Scope: 30 AC ash cell closure including borrow area clearing and grubbing, erosion control, geosynthetic liner system, cover soil placement (88,000 CY), bench and toe drain installation (16,000 LF), articulated block downchute channels, access road and culvert installation, finish grading, seeding and erosion matting.

Scope: Clearing & grubbing (15 AC), erosion control, earthwork (1,100,000 CY), HDPE underdrain (1,500 LF), HDPE leachate collection pipe (1,000 LF), leachate vault (including pump, controls, and electical), triple 36" HDPE stormwater management feature, wetland and stream mitigation.

Scope: Clearing & grubbing (375 AC), erosion control, mine grouting (53,000 CY), earthwork (8,300,000 CY), PVC underdrain (4,000 LF), subbase (92,000CY), cell geosynthetic Lining System-PVC (103 AC), protective cover (206,000 CY), PVC leachate collection pipe (24,000 LF), HDPE pipe (2,900 LF), channel lining (concrete, fabriform, riprap, and matting), 24"-90" storm drain (2,500 LF), roadway construction, leachate pond geosynthetic lining system - HDPE (7 AC) and guardrail. 

 


Project: Glen Lyn Ash Pond Closure

Scope: Closure of a 14 AC ash pond including clearing, erosion control, earthwork/ash grading (104,000 CY), PVC Liner and geotextile installation, soil cover (42,000 CY), storm drainage, riprap and erosion matting slope protection, access road and seeding.

 


Project: Ottumwa Midland Landfill Phase 1 Liner

Project: Domtar Landfill No. 3 Phase 1A & 1B Closure – Cells 3 and 4 Construction

Location: Plymouth, NC

Customer: Domtar Paper Co.

Scope: 14 AC landfill closure including erosion control, waste excavation, gas vent piping, GCL, 40 mil LLDPE geomembrane, geocomposite, cover soil placement, perimeter drainage channels, bench drainage and downslope piping, seeding, and erosion matting. New 8 AC cell construction including erosion control, clearing and grubbing, earthwork (42,000 CY), GCL, 60 mil HDPE geomembrane, 32 oz. geocushion, stone (23,000 TN) and sand (11,000 TN) drainage layers, leachate collection piping (2,000 LF), leachate forcemain and pump station, topsoil placement, seeding and access road construction.

 


Project: DE Karn Landfill Closure

Location: Essexville, MI

Customer: Consumers Energy - Jackson

Engineer: Arcadis C&M of Michigan

Scope: 11 AC ash pond closures of two existing ponds including clearing, erosion control, existing ash grading (approximately 60,000 CY), 60 mil HDPE geomembrane, storm drainage, riprap and erosion matting slope protection, access road and seeding.

 


Project: Mirant Westland Ash Storage Cell B1-A and Cell B1-B

Location: Dickerson, MD

Scope: New 8 AC ash cell including clearing and grubbing, erosion control, excavation (29,300 CY), geosynthetic clay liner, 60 mil HDPE liner, 16 oz. geocushion, bottom ash leachate collection layer (16,000 CY), and leachate collection piping (3,200 LF). New 6 AC ash cell including clearing and grubbing, erosion control, excavation (12,000 CY), geosynthetic clay liner, 60 mil HDPE liner, 16 oz. geocushion, furnish and place leachate collection stone (15,000 CY), leachate collection piping (2,700 LF), fabricform ditch lining (16,500 SF), seeding, and access road construction.

 


Project: J. H. Campbell Ash Pond and Chemical Treatment Pond Closure 

Location: West Olive, MI

Customer: Consumers Energy

Engineer: Golder and Associates, Inc.

Scope: Clean Closure of three existing ponds 30 AC and a 15 AC pond closed in place.  The project included the import of capping material for the pond that was closed in place.  The closure included geomembrane on the cap with and 18" protective soil layer placed on top.  The final  restoration and landscaping was also included in our scope.

 


Project: J. H. Campbell Cell 4 Completion

Location: West Olive, MI

Customer: Consumers Energy

Scope: New 18 AC cell including excavation (40,000 CY), screening ash for subgrade bedding layer, geomembrane liner (six layers of geosythetics), leachate collection layer (30,000 CY), leachate collection piping (6,000 LF), forcemain and sideslope vault, restoration and landscaping.

 


Project: J. H. Campbell Power Plant Final Cover

Location: West Olive, MI

Customer: Consumers Energy

Scope: Capping of a 12 AC cell consisting of screened bottom ash used for protective and bedding layers (60,000 CY), geomembrane liner, stormwater piping (3,000 LF), concrete and rock spillways, roadway (1,000 LF), topsoil (10,000 CY) and seeding.

 


Project: Yorktown Power Station Cell 11

Location: Yorktown, VA

Scope: New 5 AC ash cell including erosion control, underdrain, excavation and fill from borrow (12,000 CY), impervious soil liner (7,000 CY), bottom ash drainage layer (14,000 CY), haul road construction and seeding.

 


Project: RM Schahfer Generating Station Phase VII Fly Ash Cell

Location: Wheatfield, IN

Customer: NIPSCO

Engineer: Weaver Consultants Group

Scope: New 14 AC ash landfill cell with a 3 AC overliner. The scope included leachate piping, HDPE liner placement, import of the clay liner material, stormwater channels, gravel access roadways, and concrete loadout pads.

 


Project: Nelson Dewey Pond Closure

Location: Cassville, WI

Customer: Wisconsin Power and Light Company

Engineer: SCS Engineers

Scope: The scope included the clean closure of a 4 AC pond and a 9 AC pond that was closed in place.  During both closure operations there was a dewatering and water treatment system utilized. In the final closure a GCL liner was placed along with protective soil cover.  Final restoration and seeding was included.

 


Project: Louisa Generating Station - Reclaim Impoundment Closure and Process Water Pond

Location: Muscatine, IA

Customer: Mid American Energy

Engineer: GHD Services Inc. and Foth Engineering

Scope: The project included the dewatering of an existing reclamation impoundment, installation of a temporary ash recycling system, closure of an existing pond using geomembrane and imported protective soil cover. The project also included all stormwater management piping and structures.


Project: Nebraska City Ash Landfill Expansion Cells 2 and 3

Location: Nebraska City, NE

Customer: OPPD

Engineer: HDR Engineering

Scope: New 36 AC ash landfill cells (300,000 CY). The clay liner was imported from a borrow source. The scope also included a full dewatering system and pump house installation. Along with the associated existing bottom ash handling and placement, leachate piping, HDPE liner placement, access roadways and erosion control.
